HARSH THAKOR SAYS SALUTE THIS GREAT CONFERENCE OF ZAMEEN PRAPTI SANGHARSH COMMITTEE ON DECEMBER 15TH IN JALOOR VILLAGE IN PUNJAB IN MEMORY OF MARTYR GURDEV KAUR .

SALUTE THIS GREAT CONFERENCE OF ZAMEEN PRAPTI SANGHARSH COMMITTEE ON DECEMBER 15TH IN JALOOR IVILLAGE IN PUNJAB IN MEMORY OF MARTYR  GURDEV KAUR .

IT IS A STEPPING STONE IN THE EMANCIPATION OF THE DALIT COMMUNITY FROM THE OPPRESSION OF LANDLORD TYRANNY .MAY THE SUBSEQUENT RALLY IN MARCH NEXT YEAR ALSO BE A GLORIOUS SUCCESS AND MAY ITS LIGHT ILLUMINATE EVERY DARK CORNER OF DALIT OPPRESSION OF THE NATION.

REMEMBER WHAT CHAIRMAN MAO STATED "WOMEN HOLD UP HALF THE SKY.'WE SAW THIS IN THE MEMORIAL MEETING OF ZPSC AT JALOOR YESTERDAY WITH SO MANY DALIT WOMEN ILLUMINATING THE TORCH OF RESISTANCE.

In Lehra Gaga village in Jaloor region of Sangrur in Punjab a rally and conference comprising of around 2500 people took place yesterday to commemorate the martyrdom of dalit women activist Gurdev Kaur.

Her struggle and martyrdom symbolized the struggle for the emancipation of the landless dalit community from landlord and ruling class tyranny.

For over 2 years the Zameen prapti sangharsh committee is waging a protracted struggle for the landless labourers to win 1/3 right of panchayat land as promised by govt.

It has also waged many a struggle against the attempts of industrial houses to seize land. All the participants addressing the rally 1st paid homage to Gurdev Kuar.

The conference was inaugurated by a cultural programme by the newly formed Manvata Kala Manch,a cultural organization which performed a play based on the opression of dalit labour and sang revolutionary songs.

The Speakers were Mukesh Mulaudh of Zpsc,Zora Singh Nasrali of Punjab Khet Mazdoor Union,Joginder Singh Ugrahan of Bharatiya Kisan(Ugrahan) Nirbhay Singh of Kirti Kisan Union,Sanjeev Mintu of Krantikari Pendu Mazdoor Union,Balwinder Bhullar of Pendu Mazdoor Union.and Balwinder Jaloor.

They spoke about how the agenda of the Bharatiya Janata Party was targeting the dalit section and Muslim minority and explained how the the govt was s endorsing projects of corporates for creating industrial parks and shielding the assassins of Gurdev Kaur by not convicting them.

He summed up how still the ruling Congress regime was trying to prevent the Dalits from acquiring land .The need of the hour in his view was to organize continuous struggles against the attempts to build industrial parks, for much cheaper prices for dalits to acquire Panchyat land,to scrap black laws supporting industrial trading and for plots to be given to dalit families who ould themselves cultivate crops over it and not to those who bid for land during auction awt the instance of upper caste men from the village.

It was resolved to stage a huge state level rally mobilizing dalits from over 200 villages in Punjab in early March in 2018.Massive groundwork and preparations would take place to hold that event.

I spoke to Mukesh Malaudh, the convenor of Zameen Prapti Sangharsh Comitee who felt even if the numbers did not exceed more than 3000 people, qualitatively the event was a success.

He felt that the grabbing of land by corporate houses to build industrial parks was a genuine threat to the movement as if it continued the dalits would have no land prevailing to struggle for.

This is an ideal illustration of how corporate imperialism is making inroads into the semi-feudal agricultural system.

Mukesh also feels that the ruling Congress will undertake many a campaign to seize the land won by the dalit community by blessing the upper caste elements with the connivance of the police forces

.It proves that the farming rights for the dalit community only exist in the Constitution and morally the state bangs every nail in the coffin to prevent any land rights awarded to the dalit community.Till now the 17 acres reserved for the dalit community has not been awarded.

Some of Gurdev Kaur's killers were still let scot free by the administration In my view this gathering not only represented the aspirations of the dalit agricultural labourers of Sangrur and Punjab but of the dalit community in India as a whole. It's message should illuminate in every region of the country where dalits are opressed.

All democrats must congratulate the determined efforts of the Zameen Prapti Sangharsh committee for displaying g such resolute determination in organizing the dalit community against state and landlord tyranny

It is sowing the seeds for an agrarian revolutionary movement. incorporating the vital factor of caste. No organization has taken such a spirited challenge in Punjab to climb this hurdle as the ZPSC who have virtually inaugurated a movement..Also heartening that the speakers adressing the rally represented mass organizations under the guidance of all the different trends within the naxalite or revolutionary camp
